Through tussle and turmoil, through heartbreak and healing, and with Jonah’s estate wishes now finally recognised as he intended, Brayley Dhyreille and I, alongside our incredible support crew and team - stand proud and deeply honoured to announce “The Jonah Lomu Foundation”.
Those who truly knew Jonah know this wasn’t just an idea, it was a vision close to his heart. It was one of the final projects he and I were building together in 2015 before his passing. When he left us, the weight of continuing without him felt unbearable. Grief has a way of stilling even the strongest plans. For a time, it was simply too much to carry.
But through the grace of God’s hand, through discernment, wisdom, and unwavering faith, we have found the strength to step forward again, to step into the shoes Jonah always believed we could fill.
Not to replace him, because no one ever could, but to honour him. To carry his heart, his legacy, and his passion for uplifting others.
As may of you know, we have scholarships in place at Rotorua Boys' High School and Counties Manukau Rugby, along with honourable Trophies such as, The Jonah Lomu Memorial Trophy and the Jonah Lomu Player of the Year with Pasifika Rugby’s Hall of Fame and in addition to these , we have some meaningful projects underway that we cannot wait to share with you all very soon. This is only the beginning….
To everyone who has stood beside the boys and me, those who have supported us, prayed for us, encouraged us, and carried us when we felt weak, thank you. You have always had our backs, in ways seen and unseen. Because of you, we know we are truly blessed.
This foundation is more than a name. It is love in action. It is the rebuilding of a phenomenal legacy with purpose. And it is Jonah’s light continuing to shine.
Alway in appreciation and gratitude, Brayley, Dhyreille and Moi. - Nadene Lomu.
